Why You Should Keep Bugs Away From Your Property

Let’s face it, a huge number of us are not fans of bugs. In fact, a lot of bugs can gross us out or straight send us into panic mode. However, just a disclaimer, not all bugs are nasty. Unfortunately, a lot of them can carry diseases in our household or attack us. Find out why it’s best to keep bugs out of your property.

They Bring Diseases

The number one reason you should keep bugs out of your property is that many of them can bring in diseases. Let’s take a look at cockroaches. These insects can quickly bring in salmonellosis, typhoid fever, and Cholera.

Salmonellosis is a common disease that upsets your intestinal tracks. The easiest way to get it is by consuming contaminated food and beverages. Salmonellosis might be common, but it’s a painful and uncomfortable experience.

People will begin to suffer the symptoms within the first 72 hours of infection. You have to be ready for an upset stomach that will chain you to the toilet. Diarrhea is a common symptom, along with fever and stomach pains. You can also experience nausea, vomiting, and blood in the stool.

Meanwhile, you might suffer similar symptoms when you have typhoid. In addition, you may lose your appetite, have coughs, or be highly lethargic. The worst part about it is that you can pass it on to someone else. This is why you have to be mindful and careful with the food you eat and the water you drink. Wash your hands carefully, and make sure you clean so you don’t attract bugs that carry bacteria-causing typhoid.

Cholera, meanwhile, is probably worse because its main symptom is severe and watery diarrhea. It might sound simple, but Cholera can dehydrate your body to death. It was prevalent in the U.S. in the 19th century and caused a lot of mortalities.

Salmonella, typhoid fever, and Cholera are merely a few of the diseases that bugs can carry into the household. Another one, and perhaps one of the worst, is dengue. Dengue is a disease had a particular species of mosquitoes.

Dengue is dangerous because it doesn’t have a cure. You can only treat the symptoms, and there’s many: fever, chills, diarrhea, headache, loss of appetite, and weakness. Like Cholera, dengue can cause death. That’s why you need to keep mosquitos away from your property through effective mosquito control practices.

Hygiene and Sanitation

In addition, you want to keep the bugs away for hygiene and sanitation. The presence of bugs is a sign that the place is dirty, cluttered, and unclean. It’s an open invitation for bacteria to come, visit, and stay.

Again, not all bugs are nasty. However, cockroaches and flies affect the hygiene and sanitation of your homes. Take flies, for example. Not only do they carry numerous illnesses, but they are also a nuisance.

They even carry diseases that affect our pets, too. The worst part is that they are food poisoning and can contaminate food and water. You can even get tuberculosis from these critters.

Bugs are not just excellent carriers of bacteria. They also spread viruses and other pathogenic factors in the environment. Not only that, but they can also cause and spread diseases to your indoor plants and pets. For example, ticks and fleas can cause Ehrlichiosis in dogs.

Ehrlichiosis is dangerous because, when left untreated, it can kill your pet. They can suffer from bleeding disorders, weight loss, respiratory distress, swollen lymph nodes, and fever. Not only are they the pets put in danger, but you also risk spending for medical bills at the veterinary clinic.

How Can You Keep Bugs and Insects Off Your Property?

The first and most straightforward consideration and the solution are to clean your property regularly. Dispose of garbage in the proper places because this can attract various kinds of insects. Keep away or throw leftover food.

Don’t just leave that box of pizza on the table. Please keep it away in the fridge because it’s one of the best ways to invite cockroaches, mice, and rats. Don’t leave your dishes in the sink. Instead, wash up before the critters smell the leftover food from your plates.

Regularly empty the trash cans because these are ideal places for insects to gather and multiply. Pour our standing water, especially those in your yard, because these are breeding places for mosquitos and other insects.

Trim the grass in your yard regularly. Keeping them controlled can protect your flowers and other plants in the garden. In addition, tall grasses are cluttered that can quickly become home to insects and other bugs.

Finally, use pesticides or insect attractants. You can opt for artificial chemicals or natural means, depending on your preference. The important thing is that you make sure you and your family are safe from bugs. That way, you can also stay safe and healthy.
